  • Why IMPACT Matters: Strengthening Social Entrepreneurs Through Better Impact Measurement

Together with Social Enterprise Alliance Georgia (SEA) and EcoVisio from Moldova—and with support from the Swedish Institute—we are proud to launch the IMPACT project. True to its name, IMPACT (Impact Measurement through Partnership, Assessment, and Communicating Transparently) aims to lay the foundations for long-term collaboration. The project will empower social entrepreneurs in Sweden, Georgia, and Moldova to better measure their impact and communicate it more effectively to external audiences.

In today’s complex world, every day we face new and more complex societal challenges. Communities across the world are being reshaped by these growing challenges, such as  rising segregation, social exclusion, and the consequences of geopolitical conflicts. These turbulent shifts demand strategic, measurable, and sustainable change.

At EcoVisio, every project begins with a simple question: "How will this make a real difference?" For us, impact measurement isn’t just a tool — it’s the story behind every action we take. It shows us where we spark change, where we can grow, and where communities truly feel our efforts. We want more organizations and social entrepreneurs to experience this clarity — to see not just what they do, but what they create. That’s why we’re committed to share the methods, tools, and lessons we've gathered along the way. Because when you can measure change, you can amplify it.

Daniela Gurschi, Head of Social Entrepreneurship Department at EcoVisio

In this context, it has become increasingly important to understand how organisations across sectors—public, private, and civil society—contribute to solving social and environmental problems. Social entrepreneurs (SEs), who tackle these issues, are especially under pressure as they are expected not only to do good — but to prove it.

For many SEs, capacity is limited, and the task of developing sophisticated impact measurement and management (IMM) systems often requires additional financial and organizational resources. Unfortunately, this lack of capacity in IMM can hold organisations back and prevent them from scaling effective solutions, attracting investment, or improving their programming. This is where the IMPACT project comes in.

Lina Gyllensten, Head of Impact in Europe at Reach for Change

Till the end of September 2025 the IMPACT project will unfold through a series of activities altogether aiming at strengthening impact measurement and communication among social entrepreneurs in Sweden, Georgia, and Moldova. The project will foster cross-border collaboration, co-creation, and mutual learning between partners.

    The key project activities include:

    Co-Creation Workshops
During these sessions Reach for Change, EcoVisio, and Social Enterprise Alliance Georgia (SEAG) will focus on reviewing and adapting existing tools from each country in the areas of impact measurement and communication. The aim of this process is to explore and co-develop the improved and consolidated tools that are responsive to local needs.

    Localization and Testing
Project partners wil translate tools and materials into Georgian and Moldavian languages and conduct local focus group sessions to test and refine the tools with local social entrepreneurs. Meanwhile, Reach for Change will pilot the tools in Sweden, using its own network and incubator program for feedback and learning.

    International Exchange
To deepen collaboration and understanding, a small group of representatives from each partner country (Sweden, Georgia, Moldova) will come together in Moldova during Impact Day in May 2025. This international exchange will provide a valuable space for shared reflection, learning, and planning.

    Planning for the Future
Throughout the entire project, the partners will work together to develop a proposal for a follow-up phase, aiming for external funding to enable a broader roll-out of the tools and materials.

Together, these activities are designed to ensure that the tools developed are practical, user-informed, and ready to support lasting change.

With IMPACT, partners bring together their local expertise and set a strong foundation for cross-border collaboration in the field of social impact measurement. It is a step toward a more transparent, informed, and empowered social entrepreneurship ecosystem—one where SEs are equipped to prove and amplify their impact.
