Boyan Simeonov & Vasil Spasov
RockSchool is developing an educational music program adapted for visually impaired children and youngsters. It will give them the chance to develop, gain confidence and become a part of a community of young developing artists in Bulgaria.
Sound is one of the main sources of information for blind people, it helps them perceive the surrounding world. It helps them express themselves, gain confidence and makes them feel as a part of a community. However, there is no developed structured educational music program for visually impaired children in Bulgaria, where they can learn to play musical instruments, perform or compose or even record and produce music. As a result, visually impaired children are unable to express themselves, develop creatively and feel part of a community equally with their peers.
Boyan and Vasil are creating an education program adapted for visually impaired children and youngsters at one of Bulgaria’s most popular private music academies – RockSchool. They will set up a music cabinet equipped with the necessary hardware and software for the needs of all visually impaired children who want to study music. Their dream is to teach the kids how to sing, DJ, play the guitar, the bass, the piano, the drums, the saxophone, the violin and even produce, record and compose original music. They will also attract specialists to teach their professors how to work best with the visually impaired.
They will also set up a scholarship fund for the children who cannot afford to pay for the lessons. In the long run, they will be able to help the most talented and devoted children to develop professionally through concerts, music bands, studio sessions, sound engineering projects, recordings and productions in the studio.
