In 2014, Reach for Change and international media group MTG jointly launched the Game Changers initiative across 10 markets. The initiative was designed to leverage the power of MTGs media platform to promote social entrepreneurs that improve children’s lives.
Outstanding social entrepreneurs and children’s rights heroes were highlighted across different platforms, and local viewers and audiences were invited to vote for their favorite social entrepreneurs. The winners received support through the Reach for Change incubator to develop their ideas to achieve change for children on a large scale. Local media platforms have been used in different ways to promote and accelerate the initiative and the impact. As an example, on June 1st, 2017, Nova TV in Bulgaria dedicated the entire day to the Game Changers initiative, filling news broadcasts and talk shows with children and social entrepreneurs resulting in over 62,000 online votes. In countries where the ecosystem for social entrepreneurs has been very underdeveloped, the ability to leverage the media platforms and provide responsible content has been invaluable in storytelling and showcasing social change.
In 2017, 100 social entrepreneurs were supported by Reach for Change and MTG in partnership, and they in turn impacted more than 142,000 children, contributing to the fulfillment of ten of UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (1-8, 10 and 16).
