The mission of Geograf BG is to make science interesting for children by providing high quality web content and creative workshops, through which children can have fun while making great discoveries.
Children in Bulgaria do not have access to information about career opportunities through science. The scientific experiments are a regular part of the educational process for only 8% of the students in Bulgaria. Meanwhile over 80% of them are convinced that they must study science in order to have good career. In 2016 Bulgaria is at the bottom of the EU Innovation Scoreboard. Today’s children generation should be raised, inspired and prepared for the future of innovation in order to have an innovative, technological and educated society in the future.
Evgenia and Dimitar believe that increasing students’ interest to fundamental sciences can be achieved through targeted and consistent over time offline and online communication tools and regular and affordable science events. Their educational website www.geograf.bg is a main source of geographical information for school and university students and teachers. They organise science workshops for children aged 6-12 years, science presentations for students, a geographical festival, science adventures for children and their families and many other events. Whether it is geography, chemistry, physics, IT or mathematics it’s important for children to see the magic in science and to understand the benefits from it. Geograf BG will change children’s lives through showing them new horizons for professional development in many new innovative spheres of the contemporary knowledge.
